      India's first electric sports car, Super Nova Electric Vehicle (SNEV), developed in Gujarat

      Gujarat earns the title of being the first place in India to develop country's first indigenously developed electric sports car named, ‘Supernova Electric Vehicle (SNEV)’. The vehicle is reportedly being developed by Golden Arrow Wireless Pvt Ltd. on a dedicated 50 Acre land that shall be used for manufacturing. The unique electric car reportedly is capable of covering a distance of about 1000 kilometres on a single full charge. Moreover, the vehicle also claims of attaining speeds of up to 150 Kms per hour.

      The company reportedly owns the 50 Acre land and has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the state government to set-up a manufacturing facility there. Speaking more on the occasion, Shashi Vyas, founder of Golden Arrow Wireless, said, “We are, however, looking at setting up plants at multiple locations including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Raipur and also somewhere in Gujarat.” The vehicle shall be available in three battery options namely – Lead Acid, Supercapacitors and Lithium Ion.

      The company has reportedly invested about Rs. 100 Crore till now, and has managed to raise about Rs. 500 Crore from investors and would require some more funding post approvals from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Adding further, Vyas said, “We would need around Rs. 2,500 crore to set up the manufacturing sites. We already have around 250 bookings, and can deliver them by end 2015 if the ARAI approval comes through.”
