The made in India Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback has been launched in Japan. The car is manufactured here at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Manesar and will be exported to over 125 countries by the end of this year.
The Japanese spec car is being offered with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre Booster Jet petrol engine with the latter being available on from May 13 onwards. Transmission options include a six-speed AT for the 1.2-litre unit while the Booster Jet will get a CVT.
The JDM spec car also gets adaptive cruise control, ESP with hill hold function and radar brake support. The exterior design and cabin are exactly the same as the India-spec model with​ minimal changes.
The Baleno made its global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and was first launched in the Indian market on October 26. The lineup for India includes a 1.2-litre and a1.3-litre diesel and will be joined by the 1.0-litre Booster Jet variant which will be dubbed the Baleno RS.
