Korean Automaker and India’s second largest auto manufacturer Hyundai Motors has launched its SUV model Santa Fe in India. Santa Fe was launched in 2000 globally and a total of 20 lacs has been sold since its launch. This seems to give Hyundai confident about its success in India.
Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) chief executive officer and Managing Director H.W. Park said, ‘'Santa Fe has sold over 20 lacs units globally since its launch in June 2000 and we are confident of its performance in India. Santa Fe will give us a competitive edge in the SUV segment and offer our customers the best in terms of luxury and performance.''
Hyundai Santa Fe in India has options of two-wheel or four-wheel drive and it comes with six speed manual transmission. Santa Fe is equipped with 2.2 Liter CRDi engine that gives mileage of 14.66 kilometer per liter. The maximum power of this engine will deliver 197 PS at 4000 RPM and the maximum torque it delivers is 42.9 kgm at 1800-2500 RPM.
In India, Santa Fe launches at an introductory price that range between 20 and 23 lacs. The price is on the high side as the Santa Fe is not made in Hyundai’s Indian plant and the units are completely built and imported from South Korea. Santa Fe comes in four colors in India.
