Hyundai has confirmed its plans to enter the small car segment of the Indian auto market with sheer force, as it recently launched the much anticipated compact car EON across India. Mumbai recently witnessed the launch of the class apart EON at an event held at Trident, Nariman Point. Hyundai Eon has been priced quite competitively, in the wake of the basic needs of the Indian customers and also owing to the upcoming festive fervour. Hyundai is expected to offer a total of six variants for its latest small car, in order to boost its sales further. The six variants would also satiate the buyers by providing them ample options to choose from. With the launch of Hyundai's most aggressively priced car till date, India's A-segment market is expected to experience an increment, both in terms of sales as well as competition.

Hyundai EON has been placed among the highly successful names in the car market, which include the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Chevrolet Spark. It is important to note that the A-segment market seems to grow rapidly with aspects like low price gradually becoming an inseparable part the segment. Subsequently, the boosted segment is expected to witness effective developments in the near future as manufacturers are drastically sacrificing on the price quotient in order to lure maximum buyers.

A well assembled 814cc three cylinder petrol engine offered in Hyundai EON is capable of producing 55 bhp of power at 5500 rpm, with a peak torque of 76.5 Nm at 4000 rpm. The new small car from Hyundai is expected to offer an unprecedented mileage of 21.1 kmpl and above, as certified by Automotive Research Association of India. Hyundai EON, which has been introduced at a price range of Rs. 2.69 lacs to Rs. 3.71 lacs, has six variants namely D-LITE, D-LITE (O), ERA, MAGNA, MAGNA (O) and SPORTZ. Out of the six variants, D-LITE and SPORTZ are the base model and the top model respectively.

At the time of its launch, Hyundai Motor India Limited Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer H.W. Park said that “EON has been specifically built keeping in mind the varied Indian conditions and special requirements of the customers here. It will further expand our market share in the fast-growing small car segment in the Indian market.”

The very attractive EON from Hyundai has a short overall length of 3,495 mm, however, is wider and higher than the Maruti Suzuki's most successful car, Alto. The EON has infact offered a new definition to the standard small segment car design by offering several firsts-in-class segment features. The car has been affixed with features like 2-tone beige and brown dual tone interiors, an internally adjustable driver’s side rear view mirror and even includes a heater in the standard variant.

The top-end Sport model displays a number classy features such as metallic finish steering wheel, silver inserts in the centre console, driver’s side air bag, USB equipped stereo, fog lamps. Moreover, even the Magma variants that are placed below Sport include air tilt steering, front power windows, a rear parcel tray, gear shift indicators and central locking as standard features.

Apparently, the EON seems to act as a driving force for the already rising sales figures of Hyundai, and definitely proves to be a tough competitor in the market.
