Race 2, a sequel of year 2008's Indian blockbuster motion picture 'Race', is set for a January 25, 2013 launch in the country. As we move closer to the release date, the hype and interest for high performance sports cars (used in the movie) is also on the rise. Race 2's promotional trailers have already been put on-air in all major television channels, besides the big billboard advertisements are also going on full swing. Number of exciting and high performance super sports cars have been used in the movie, which has caught the attention of most automobile enthusiasts residing in the country.
The yet-to-be released Race 2 movie features popular Indian actors like John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandes and Amisha Patel, in prominent roles. In the promos of Race 2, Deepika Padukone is spotted driving the Audi TT sports car, while John Abraham is seen burning rubber on the uber-cool Audi R8 Spyder. The two-seater Audi TT incorporates a 2.0 litre, 1,984 cc, 4-cylinder, TFSI engine under its hood, which rolls out a peak power output around 207 bhp at 4,600 to 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The stunning Audi TT sports car is offered in Indian premium automobile market at a price tag of Rs. 50 lakhs.
The supercar Audi R8 Spyder is powered with a mammoth of a 5.2 litre FSI, V10 petrol powertrain, which churns out a breathtaking peak output power around 518 bhp, along with a maximum torque of 530 Nm. The powerful Audi model races to 100 kmph from a standstill in just 4.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 300 kmph. At present, the futuristic R8 Spyder is offered to domestic sports car enthusiasts at a retail value close to Rs. 1.7 crore.
The Race 2 trailers consists of a number of mind blowing action sequences, featuring some stunning supercars from world renowned sports car makers like Lamborghini and Audi, amongst others. There is an action sequence where a standstill Lamborghini Gallardo or 'the Batmobile' is blown up to 50 feet in air, which makes one jump up wondering what happened of the super cool car.
The Lamborghini Gallardo comes fitted with a beast of a 5.2 litre, 5,204 cc, V10 40 valves DOHC powertrain, which churns out out an astonishing peak power output of 562 bhp at 8,000 rpm, along with a maximum torque of 540 Nm at 6,500 rpm. At present, the peach of Italian made super sports car, Lamborghini Gallardo is offered to local audience at price tags amounting to close to Rs. 2.2 crore.
The German made Audi Q7 full size luxury Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is also used in action sequences of the yet to be released Race 2 movie. The Audi Q7 incorporates 4.2 litre, 4,134 cc, TDI Quattro V8 powertrain, that belts out a peak power output of 345 bhp. The stylish SUV is offered to local audience at a price range between Rs. 58 lakhs and Rs. 76 lakhs.
