Ford has finally ended the wait and debuted its much awaited muscle car, the Mustang, in Malaysia. Prices range from RM488,888, for the 2.3L EcoBoost, to RM598,888, for the 5.0L GT V8 (Rs 79.04 lakh to Rs 96.83 lakh).
Under the hood, the 2.3-litre EcoBoost motor spins out 317bhp at 5,500rpm and is complimented by 432Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. The optional 5.0-litre V8 mill produces 416bhp at 6,500rpm, along with an enticing 530Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. Regardless of the engine one chooses, a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters promises to release havoc on to the road.
Standard features include DRLs with HID headlamps, a rear diffuser, dual-zone climate control, button start ignition and leather upholstery with cooled front seats to name a few. There’s also rain sensing wipers, rear-view camera, stainless steel exhausts, SYNC 2 infotainment system with an eight-inch LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Safety equipment offered are Electronic Stability Control, Isofix mount points, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a host of airbags including curtain and active glovebox knee-airbag for the front passenger.
Ford India is expected to launch this iconic muscle car for the Indian market during the festive season.
