The Fiat Cronos is finally here after many months of spy shots and speculative renderings. It’s a successor to the Linea and will start its life in Brazil before being introduced in other markets over the next year or so.
The Cronos shares much of its looks with the Argo hatchback and this is visible in the face but with a dab of extra chrome to separate the sedan from the hatchback. In profile, you can see a strong shoulder line and a forward leaning stance for that extra hint of sportiness. However, it is the back that has got our attention the most as it has been designed to mimic the very beautiful and far more expensive Alfa Romeo Giulia. You get a similar look boot spoiler and tail lamps but with the higher stance to match the position of the car.
The Cronos and Argo share the same cabin and will get the same feature list which includes climate control, touchscreen infotainment, leather upholstery, multi-function steering wheel and instrument cluster with colour digital display. However, this appears to be a top-of-the-line version and the lower spec models will definitely come with basic features in this part of the market. The Brazilian market will get this car with a 109bhp 1.3-litre petrol and a 1.8-litre 139bhp petrol. You can have both with a five-speed manual and in the case of the latter also a six-speed AT.
This car is a replacement for the Linea and is likely to come to India in 2019 and will rival up against the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, VW Vento and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
