Fiat India launched the new editions of its Linea and Punto on 3rd January 2012, few days ahead of the New Delhi Auto Expo. While the former will now be available in 1.3 Advanced Multijet Diesel and 1.4 Fire Petrol variants, the latter will be marketed in three versions, 1.2 Fire Petrol, 1.4 Fire Petrol and 1.3 Multijet Diesel. The 2012 Linea and 2012 Punto reflect Italian design themes and ingenuity to their cores and possess a host of features that are not available in their competitors.
These next-generation cars have raised the bar for performance, safety, comfort, ride and handling, and in-car infotainment in the hatchback and premium sedan segments. The Linea will possess many features that are not available in other cars of its segment, like rain-sensing wipers and auto switch on/off headlamps. The manufacturer has also improved upon in terms of ground clearance, air conditioning and NVH for diesel versions.
The interiors of the two cars have been completely refurbished, while new interior theme colours add to their charm. Along with the existing exterior colour options, namely Fox Trot Azure, Tuscan Wine, Sunbeam Beige and Exotica Red, the 2012 Linea and 2012 Punto will also be available in Oceanic Blue colour.
Fiat Linea 2012 has been assimilated with a variety of new features, such as powerful auto AC, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), alloy wheels, airbags and power window with delay. The base version of the car has an integrated audio system, while the company offers ‘Blue and Me’ infotainment system from the mid version. The ground clearance of the car has been raised to 185 mm, the best in its class.
The luxury diesel variant of 2012 Linea includes leather seats, 16 inch alloy wheels and chrome interiors as standard accessories. The all-new light beige interior theme, including fabric seats, floor carpet, dashboard and door trims, render opulence to the car. Another highlight of the new edition of the Linea is the fuel efficiency – 20.4 kmpl for Linea 1.3 Advanced Multijet Diesel and 14.6 kmpl for 1.4 Fire Petrol.
The refreshed Punto 2012 is equipped with many features, such as integrated audio system, central locking and front power windows in the base variant. The ground clearance of the model has also been increased – 195 mm for Punto 1.2 and 185 mm for Punto 1.3 and 1.4. The hatchback also possesses new interiors, giving the car a bright grey theme for fabric seats, carpeted flooring and door trims, while the dashboard has been given a unique dual colour tones. The mileage of the three variants of Punto has also improved – 15.2 kmpl, 14.6 kmpl and 20.3 kmpl for Punto 1.2 Fire Petrol, 1.4 Fire Petrol and 1.3 Multijet Diesel, respectively.
