      Fiat India aims to reach maximum utilization of its Ranjangaon plant by end of this year

      Fiat India, a unit of the leading Italian car maker Fiat Spa, is all set to take its Ranjangaon manufacturing facility to it full utilization by the end of this year. At present, the company is utilizing only 70 percent of the Ranjangaon facility where it produces both engines and cars.

      It is to be mentioned here that Fiat India supplies diesel engines to Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki from its Ranjangaon facility. As the demand for diesel variant has been on a continuous rise in the Indian auto market, the car makers like Maruti and Tata Motors both registering an upward shift in the demand. This is increasing production demand at Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility, from where it supplies engines to Maruti and manufactures cars for Tata Motors.

      Meanwhile the company is itself expanding its portfolio in the country and has already launched new generation models of its compact hatchback Punto and sedan Linea.

      Speaking on the matter, Piyush Lall, Assistant General Manager, Fiat Brands - Tata Motors, said, "The recent agreement with Maruti would definitely take plant capacity forward and Tata Motors also plans to produce more cars from here. This calendar year the capacity is fully utilised. "
