Houshang Afshar, the prime accused of Delhi car blast flew to Tehran after a day halt in Malaysia. Afshar is an Iranian national, suspected to have involved in the bombing the vehicle of Israeli diplomat in the national capital on February 13. Malaysian authorities in their investigation report have mentioned that the culprit arrived at Kuala Lumpur and waited for his accomplices who were planning to execute similar kind of terrorist operation in the Thai capital.
In the intervening night of February 14 and 15, Afshar left for Tehran after watching the news of their failed plan on the television. From Kuala Lumpur airport, Masoud Sedaghatzadeh was arrested by Malaysian police. Information attained from phone book of Masoud brought various officials from external and internal security agencies including Indian journalist Syed Mohammed Ahmed Kazmi in the suspicion bracket.
Probe reports shared by Bangkok included pictures of Saeid Moradi and Mohammad Kharzei, the two bombers along with Sedaghatzadeh with some women escorts in Pattaya. In a statement to Bangkok police, one of the escorts mentioned that she was asked to escort Kharzei as he faced difficulty in communicating in English language. Based on statement of Kazmi to Delhi Police and investigations conducted in India, Malaysia, and Thailand, the attacks planned in New Delhi, Georgia and Bangkok seems to be the retribution of attacks on Iranian scientists. Since 2009, four Iranian nuclear scientists have lost their lives in the attacks.
A remote controlled bomb was used to kill Massoud Ali Mohammadi in Tehran on January 2010. On November, 29, 2010, Majid Shahriyari an important part of Iran's biggest nuclear projects was assassinated in a car bomb attack. On the same day an unsuccessful attempt was made to murder Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation scientist Abbasi-Davani. Darioush Rezaeinejad another scientist lost his life in 2011 as he was shot dead by gunmen in eastern Tehran.
In another attack in the month of July 2011, Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan was killed, when a motorcyclist used magnetic bomb to blow his car. The same process was followed in the Delhi car bomb case in which Israeli diplomat Tal Yeshua luckily survived after being critically injured.
