      BMW 1 Series all set to hit Indian car market on September 3

      The iconic German manufacturer BMW is gearing up for the launch of 1 Series model in India on 3rd of September. BMW is actively marketing its latest offering as the lowest priced model of the company to make inroads in the Indian car market. The upcoming model of BMW shall be pitted against the likes of already established Mercedes-Benz A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks, which have registered a strong performance so far. The company is going out with all guns blazing by actively marketing its upcoming model with the use of various advertisement campaigns, besides commencing bookings of the car in advance.

      BMW 1 Series is expected to be provided with advanced 4-cylinder engine that shall be powered by the TwinPower Turbo technology. It is learnt that this fuel injection system would offer superior mileage as compared to other cars. The diesel engine of 1 Series is expected to offer a mileage of 21 kmpl on smooth road conditions. As reported the upcoming model of BMW shall be brought to the country through Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and is expected to be assembled at the company's Chennai facility.

      As told by sources, 1 Series shall feature in India with a 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo diesel engine, which generates 143 bhp of peak output while attaining a maximum torque of 320 Nm. The diesel variant shall be known as 118d in the Indian car market while the petrol one is named as 116i. The German company might give away the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing a maximum power of 136 bhp while churning out a maximum torque of 220 Nm.

      It is said that the company might insist on giving away the same transmission as provided in global markets. The diesel and petrol variants are expected to get the same 8-Speed automatic gearbox to further transfer power to the wheels. As far as the pricing is concerned, it is said that petrol variant may be offered at Rs. 21 lakh while the top end 118d highline variant shall carry a price tag of Rs. 29 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). BMW 1 Series is marketed as a car that can give away strong engine performance, higher fuel efficiency.

      The soon to be launched model of BMW is garnering a lot of attention from industry critics owing to its aggressive design. According to experts, the 1 Series shall be able find a good customer base in youth, owing to the attractive exterior appearance of the car. Talking about the features of BMW 1 Series, it is offered with a electric glass roof that comes with a pre-set functionality to change the position where the passengers intends to keep them. However, it still remains unclear as to what features shall be provided in the model meant for production in India.
