Mahindra is already an established brand in the utility vehicle scene but their recent foray in the 2-wheeler market has been controversial with their bike Stallio seeing lots of rough waters until finally it had to hang its uniform. However, Mahindra’s are still not discouraged and take it as a learning curve.
They showcased 2 models at the 2012 Auto Expo, the Duro DZ and the superbike Mahindra MGP30. Also on the display was their retro styled Italian design inspired bike Mojo. The Mojo was revealed long back and many had anticipated its launch immediately after its revealing. The Mahinda Mojo is a 300cc bike which has a liquid cooled DOHC motor affixed to it. The engine produces 26bhp at 8500 rpm and a torque of 24Nm at 7000 rpm. Inverted shock-absorbers, Front and Rear disc brakes and a weight of 160kgs are some of the highlighting points.
The interesting fact is Bajaj-KTM 200 is all ready and would be painting the Indian streets orange soon. The KTM 200’s unit produces 25bhp and weighs close to 40 kilos lesser than the Mojo. The KTM-200 would be priced around Rs.1.30L while the Mahindra Mojo is said to be priced very close to Rs.2L or little higher than that.
Mahindra would get their so called superbike Mojo by March 2012 and Bajaj-KTM 200 is anticipated to be launched by the end of this month.
