      ARAI to Develop Greener and Safer Euro 5/6 Technologies

      The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has planned-up to inject as much as Rs 250 crore to establish advanced laboratories in the Indian market for developing more Eco-friendly Euro-5 and Euro-6 technologies. The new expansion plans of the industry body will be undertaken under National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) of Indian Government’s Department of Heavy Industries.

      In a statement given to the reporters on Tuesday, ARAI’s director, Mr. S M Marathe said, "Under the proposed expansion plan, ARAI will be setting up advanced laboratories complimentary to existing facilities to develop Euro 5/6 technologies for greener and safer vehicles.”

      The process of hill-top land acquirement for the proposed expansion has received a green signal from Forest Advisory Committee of Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF), after an onsite assessment. MoEF was seeking to dispel concerns over possible loss of the green belt in the area.

      The development new Euro 5 and 6 technologies will not only help in reducing the carbon footprints of the vehicles but will also raise the safety standards among the vehicles. The cars running on these technologies will be greener and safer as compared to their Euro-4 counterparts.
