Five Indian Air Force (IAF) riders have been listed in the coveted Limca Book of Records for traversing ten Himalayan passes in just 51 hours on the backs of Hero Impulse motorcycles. The phenomenal achievement has been recognised by the Indian breakthrough performances recording book and the five daredevil bike adventure enthusiasts have been felicitated for their remarkable accomplishment by both Indian Air Force and Hero MotoCorp.
The conquerors of extremely difficult and challenging Himalayan terrains called 'Rooftop of the world’ belongs to the elite IAF rider group. The honoured team comprised Warrant Officer Goutam Dhar Gupta, JWO Vikram Singh Yadav, Sgt. Madan Mohan Reddy, Sgt. Ravinder Singh Rawat and Sgt. Tejinder Singh Kapoor. The riders covered ten Himalayan passes within 51 hours at a record setting elevation up to 20,540 ft., and broke the previously established record of 20,493 ft.
The five member team of headstrong IAF riders were greeted in New Delhi by none other than Air Marshall Jyoti Narayan Burma, Air Officer-in-Charge Administration, Air Force Headquarters, Indian Air Force. Further, Hero MotoCorp's Senior Vice President (VP) of Marketing and Sales Divisions, Anil Dua also congratulated the Himalayan conquering Indian gems and heroes.
The astounding adventure ride was embarked upon by the IAF rider team on May 16, 2012 in Leh, Manali. The thrill seekers triumphed the rugged route neatly by passing one difficult terrain after another and traversing through one of the highest motorable roads of the world. Reportedly, the team covered landmarks like Marsimik La, Khardung La and Chang La Himalayan passes in the first leg of their action cum adventure. Further, the intrepid bike aficionados successfully covered Tanglang La, Horlam La, Lachulung La, Nakee La, Baralacha La, Rohtang and Jalori passes, with the record setting trip ending on the day on May 20, 2012
