      2015 Yamaha R1 set to enter Indian market soon

      The 2015 Yamaha R1 was unveiled at the 2014 EICMA in Milan and reports now claim that the bike will make its way to Indian market in the first half of 2015. Speculations are rife that the bike will is going to launched in March, which will be followed by advanced bookings and subsequently, commencement of deliveries. Though nothing has been confirmed till now, the bike is expected to cost in the region of INR 15.5 lacs, which is about 2-3 lac higher than its current version. Upgrades are being touted as the reason for the increase in cost.

      A deviation from the current version, the 2015 version is a totally different bike in terms of design and is inspired by the firm’s MotoGP model YZR-M1. Featuring a practical design, the new Yamaha R1 has front air bay, aerodynamic fairing and visor, tank inspired by MotoGP and twin projector headlamps. The current version features an under seat dual exhaust, which has been replaced by a side-slung type. The tail lamps are sportier with turn indicators while new seat cowls feature a design for improved aerodynamics.

      This bike runs on a CP4 crossplane powertrain that has a displacement of 998 cc and churns out a maximum output level of 200 BHP and top torque of 112.4 Nm. The USP of this bike is the highly advanced electronic package that has a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
