      2012 Auto Expo: Countdown begins for 11th Auto Expo, 'Mobility for All' will be the theme

      With few days left for the curtain raiser of 11th Auto Expo, to be held in New Delhi between Jan 5 and Jan 11, 2012, aficionados have begun the countdown. Rajive Kaul, Chairman, Steering committee for the automotive event announced ‘Mobility for All' as theme for the Auto Expo 2012. With massive bookings and excitement bubble, future prospects of Indian auto industry seem better.

      Highlights of the 11th Auto Expo will be:

      • 1500 participants from 24 countries across the globe
      • Exhibitor presence in 16 halls, 10 hangars and outdoor space spread over 115000 sq. m.
      • 50 model launches including Cars, Two wheelers, Trucks and Buses
      • Buying / sourcing delegations
      • Special emphasis on Green Technologies and Environment
      • Strong overseas participation

      The upcoming event will witness record participation, with bigger contingents from Germany and China putting forth offerings alongside Indian car makers. In all, the platform will have 16 halls, 10 hangers and outdoor space, sprawling over 115000 square meters. Considering potential of Indian automotive industry and stagnant or declining industries overseas, international auto manufacturers are showing interest in Indian operations.

      S. Sandilya, President SIAM underlined significance of Indian operations when he said that almost all prominent foreign automakers have presence in India, while rest of them are expected to foray into the market in near future. He further added that the Auto Expo will revive existing lull and establish India among Green Mobility markets with emphasis on use of alternative fuels.

      In last few years, Indian component industry has created its mark on global markets, either by partnering or by acquisitions. Global component manufacturers like Visteon, Delphi, Magna or Continental have involved themselves in the country, by allying with Indian component manufacturers. On the other hand, international manufacturers like Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Dunlop, and Continental have combined with domestic heavyweights like Apollo, JK and MRF, creating their space in the Indian automotive industry.

      Auto component industry representatives from Belarus, Canada, People’s Republic of China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and UAE will make their presence felt at the Auto Expo 2012.

      Global launches and much more

      Auto Expo 2012 will see unveiling of 50 vehicles besides exhibition of exotic and world class vehicles, designs and technologies. The platform will also be used for launching India-specific products. Component manufacturers will present their innovative offerings, especially in the sphere of developing green technology.

       

      Auto Expo 1
       

      Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) are the collective organizers of the auto event. The international event is first in India to accreditation of Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA), Paris based organization with national trade associations in 41 countries around the world.

      1500 representatives from 24 countries across the globe will be part of the show, among confirmed are auto companies from Germany, People Republic of China, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, and UK. The first day of the show will be a Goodwill Day, allowing physically challenged alongside media to check out offerings at the auto show.

      Apart from the new cars and car concepts, the auto show will be having categorical pavilions. Pavilions for accessories, audio components, alternate fuel, gas technologies, design, IT, diesel, garage equipment and the popular ‘asli-naqli’ pavilion will also attract visitors at the show.

      Calling the event as harbinger of revival of the Indian auto industry, Vikram Kirloskar, Vice President, SIAM said that response to 11th Auto Expo will decide future of Indian car market for upcoming coming months.
