A Ferrari 250 GTO, one of the finest vintage sports cars of Ferrari, has secured the title of being the second most expensive car globally and the most expensive car in the Britain. The former owner of the sports car, a businessman from Britain, Mr. Jon Hunt, has sold the 1963 make model of the Italian car to an undisclosed buyer at a whopping price of $32 million and it has thus become the second most costliest car after 1936 make Bugatti Type 57SC that was sold for around $40 million in the year 2010.

The units of the Ferrari 250 GTO, which were manufactured during 1962 to 1964, were limited to 39 and each car was sold at a price tag of $18000 and $6000 in US and UK respectively.

The 250 GTO is loaded with a 3.0 Liter, V12 engine that is capable of a peak power of 300 bhp with a top mileage of 280 kmph and can accelerate from a standstill position to 100 kmph in a fraction of 6.5 seconds.

While commenting on the 1963 make Ferrari 250 GTO becoming the second most highly priced car across the globe, Mr. John Collins, Chairman (Classic Ferrari specialist Talacrest) said, "Wealthy people are spending a lot of money on classic Ferraris and everyone wants a GTO at the moment. Classic Ferraris have seen more gains than others; they're like the Picassos of the car world. And the 250 GTO is the golden car of its generation; show me a man who wouldn't want one. They are bought by people who have a love of cars and see them as an investment. I have bought and sold seven over the years including this model and I wish I had kept one now, but hey ho."

This vintage sports car was one of the fastest cars of its time and was also certified to be manufactured for racing purposes. In recent times, the investments in vintage cars have fetched greater popularity because such legendary models give attractive profitability too.
