MG Hector [2019-2021]

Summary

MG Hector is the first product for the British marque in India. The feature loaded SUV is available in 11 variants and five colour options. The company has set up a new facility in Halol, Gujarat and has plans to open 100 touch points as well as a massive flagship showroom in Gurgaon. Their SUV will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson but (in their words) will bring far more to the table.

Exterior

The MG Hector shares its underpinnings with the Baojun 530 SUV. the Hector gets chrome treatment for the fascia and brushed-aluminium faux skid plate on the front and rear bumper. Moreover, the vehicle will also get a set of diamond cut alloy wheels. The SUV also features LED headlights and fog lamps, TPMS, heated ORVMs, remote car operation and a height adjustment tailgate.

Interior

The MG Hector has been launched in the country with a long list of creature comfort features in the form of a large vertically mounted infotainment system, premium upholstery, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and more. The mid-size SUV is the largest in its segment at 4655mm in length, and also has the longest wheelbase of 2750mm.

Engine

Under the hood, MG Hector is powered by turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Additionally, the gasoline motor also gets an optional 48V hybrid system. The 1.5L turbo-petrol motor makes 141bhp and 250Nm and is available with a six-speed manual as well as DCT automatic transmissions. The petrol hybrid will only be offered with a manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 2.0L turbocharged diesel motor generates 170bhp and 350Nm and is sourced from FCA. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
