Bought Hyundai Alcazar Signature (O) Automatic Diesel 6 Seater few weeks ago after considering several 6 to 7 seater SUVs and MPVs such as Mahindra XUV700, Kia Carens, Tata Safari, etc. and even tested Jeep Compass. Out of all the cars mentioned above, I felt Alcazar has the most refined and smoothest engine especially in the Petrol variant. Initially thought to go with the Petrol variant, but was told by the dealer that the Signature variant dual tone has a waiting period of 45 days. However, as the diesel variant was readily available and my commute is more than 1700kms a month, decided to go with it. My previous car was Mahindra Marazzo M8 which I sold on Spinny for a reasonable price. Read several reviews on Alcazar before taking this decision. XUV700 was good, but the small niggles I faced with Marazzo coupled with huge waiting period made me to drop it. Test Kia Carens, but didn't like the interiors, driving experience and the ride quality. Dropped Tata Safari due to negative reviews. Alcazar felt miles ahead (except in terms of space for the last row) compared to all the above cars, in terms of build quality, features, ride quality, drive comfort and mileage. Was little sceptic regarding my decision to go with diesel though, as some reviews have pointed out that it feels underpowered, which was also my observation when I tested both the variants. However, once you cross 30 on the speedometer, the vehicle feels very smooth and is pleasure to drive. The Drive modes, Comfort, Eco and Sport, each give a different driving feel, Comfort being the most comfortable in the city and on the highways alike. However, Sports mode gives you maximum pleasure especially while driving on highways. I have got a mileage of 18.5kmpl while driving on Sports more at a speed of around 100kmph. On Eco mode in city with less traffic got around 21.8kmpl. On Comfort mode, the mileage in the city is around 16kmpl. All the above figures are excellent for a car like this and have reassured that I have taken the right decision going with diesel. The car won't feel underpowered at all. One of the few problems with Alcazar would be for an adult of more than 5 feet 5 inches to sit comfortably in the last row of the vehicle while leaving good space for the first and the middle rows. As my previous car was Marazzo which has best in class cabin space in all rows, this problem looked all the more obvious. Another problem is with the AC vents in the middle row as you will start to feel that they are not functioning. However, these issues are manageable as very rarely we travel with 6 adults and front AC was cooling the car quite good enough. We may also turn on the AC vents in the last row to get some air from behind. My most favourite features in Alcazar are the drive modes, large electronic sunroof, interior colours and the 360 degree view of the car. Alcazar may not look very big on the road, but it feels very premium than most cars in that price range. Me and my family have been in love with the vehicle since buying it. Great Job done by Hyundai! Pros: 1. Drive comfort 2. Ride quality 3. Premium interiors 4. Drive modes 5. Electronic Sunroof 6. 360 degree camera 7. Bose audio Cons: 1. Third row seating 2. Middle row AC
