      Opel History and launch

      Opel is a major German automobile manufacturer, which was founded in 1863. In 1929, Opel became a subsidiary of US major General Motors, after which the company entered a new phase growth. Today, there are more than 23,890 employees working in Opel’s German business and it is considered as one of the largest automobile manufacturers of Germany. Opel had entered India several years back, but was phased out subsequently. Today, GM is represented in India by Chevrolet India.

      Opel Launch in India

      Opel India Private Limited was a division of General Motors India Private Limited. The brand had sold Opel cars in the country till 2006 and was then replaced with Chevrolet. As of the year 2010, Opel continues to run a program which provides servicing of spare parts for existing Opel vehicle owners.Opel was launched in India in the year 1996, in which Opel launched its first family car with the Opel Astra manufactured. The Opel Astra was launched in the year 1996 in India but the company discontinued sales from the year 2006. The Opel Astra was in moderate use in India and is now available in the used car section.

      Opel Founder

      Adam Opel is the founder of Opel brand. He was born in 1837. Initially, he started his career with the production of sewing machine. His wife Sophia supported him in all walks of his life. During 1880, the sewing machine business flourished and they expand their production plans. In 1899, they produced more than half a million machines and in 1911 they produced 1 million machines.

      Later, with the help of their five sons they would grow the Opel sewing machine organization to Opel automotive organization.The story of Adam Opel is as follows. Opel was inspired by a high-wheeled bicycle, which he happened to see in Paris. Soon after that he planned to make this bicycle on his own and he ordered some parts from England. Unfortunately, this led to with disastrous results. Nevertheless, with strong determination, he made a bicycle of his own in 1886. This was the precursor to his auto adventure.

      Opel Dealer Network in India

      Opel discontinued its dealerships in 2006 and the company does not have any dealer network in India. It only runs OPIL which is for supplying spare parts to the present Opel users in India. Previously, there were Opel dealers present in almost each city of the country.

      Opel Used car market 

      Opel cars in India were undoubtedly one of the more popular family cars available. Due to this, there is always a value for used Opel cars and they are available in the internet and local markets. Note that Opel cars are somehow preferred in the South of the county.

      Opel Astra

      Opel Astra is a small family car engineered and manufactured by Opel since 1991. It is branded as Vauxhall Astra in the United Kingdom and Buick Excelle in China. It was launched in India as the first car from the house of Opel and was discontinued in 2006. Opel Astra was one of the most popular cars in the country and was one of the most demanded cars for years.

      Opel Corsa

      The Opel Corsa is a supermini which was launched in the year 1982 by Opel and was launched in India in the year 2000. The Opel Corsa was discontinued from the year 2006. The Opel Corsa remains one of the more popular second hand cars in the South of India.

      Opel Vectra

      Opel Vectra is a modern family car from the house of Opel and is running worldwide from the year 1995. The Opel Vectra was first launched in India in the year 2003 and was discontinued in the year 2006 along with other cars of the section. Interestingly, the Vectra,  if you see it on road, will surely impress you with its modern design and impressive looks.Opel cars are generally known for their longevity and quality, and the features of Opel cars are acknowledged as world class. Indeed, Opel cars are also perfect style statements and are now available in the used car segment.
       

      Discontinued Opel Cars
