BMW 5 Series [2013-2017]

Summary

Amongst a slew of new products by BMW at the Auto Expo, the German car manufacturer has rolled out its very own power beast, the M5. Subtle style elements gives it an everyday commuter look, but under the hood it packs enough performance to put many supercars to shame, thereby securing its place as a sleeper. The new M5 offers a perfect balance between comfort and performance. Interestingly, it is also regarded as one of the fastest saloons in the world.

Exterior

Coming from the 5 Series family, the M5 gets a sharp aerodynamically sculpted front bumper with a lip spoiler, larger alloys, running boards and a rear splitter with the signature quad exhausts. But the exhaust rumble of the V8 is something unmistakable. This is the latest generation of the M5, the previous version of which has been discontinued after the new 5 series was launched in India last year. The BMW M5 is available only in one fully loaded trim with 19 inch alloys, M-package bumpers as well as the rear splitter.

Interior

Coming from a luxury car manufacturer’s production line, the new M5 features premium leather upholstery, separate-zone climate control for all four passengers, HUD, a panoramic sunroof  and everything that gets adjusted by just a flick of a switch. Along with the sporty front seats, heads-up display, gesture control and dynamic dampers, the new M5 gets a meaty M Sport steering wheel.  

Engine

Mechanically, the BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 turbocharged petrol engine that generates 600bhp of power and 750Nm of torque. The powerful engine comes mated to bespoke eight-speed torque converter from ZF and gets a limited slip differential to aid the dynamics. Additionally, the vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in less than five seconds
