Tata Motors Limited, earlier called Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company, is the country’s leading passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturer. The homegrown automaker’s headquarters are situated in Mumbai, Maharashtra and is a subsidiary of Tata Group. The company is known for making passenger cars, trucks, vans, buses and military vehicles.  It is the country’s fifth largest passenger vehicle maker. Indian Operations and Executive Managements

Mr. Ravindra Pishardoy is the executive director, commercial vehicles, Tata Motors, while C Ramakrishnan is the president and chief financial officer of the company. Dr. Timothy Leverton is the President and head of advanced and product engineering. Recently, Mayank Pareek joined Tata Motors as its president for passenger vehicle business unit.

Tata Motors, the homegrown automaker, manufactures and assembles several cars and commercial vehicles in India. Environmental Initiatives

Tata Motors has been regularly showcasing its electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles on different platforms At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the company showcased the Megapixel electric concept, which is yet to enter into production. It was speculated to be the cheapest electric car and will be positioned above the Nano hatchback. At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the homegrown automaker showcased the pure electric Ace and Magic. The company will launch the Tata Ace electric next year in the country.

Founder & First car

Tata Motors formed a joint venture with Daimler-Benz of Germany and entered the commercial vehicle segment in 1945. After dominating the commercial vehicle market, the homegrown automaker entered the passenger vehicle market in 1991. Its first passenger vehicle was the Tata Sierra - a multi utility vehicle. Then came the Estate Station wagon in 1992, followed by Tata Sumo in 1994.

Tata Motors has the second largest dealership network in the country, which has played an important role in the company's growth. Moreover, fuel efficient Tata cars including Indica, Zest, Bolt hatchback and Nano too have helped the company grow over the years. Due to use of high level of local components, the maintenance cost of Tata car models are very low that also plays a part in the high demand for its cars in our market. Though almost all the Tata cars are known for offering high mileage, the most fuel efficient Tata Cars are - Manza, Nano and Zest.

Resale Value

The resale value of Tata cars is decent in the market; however, few of its models like Indica and Indigo got the Taxi car image. This leads to a low resale value of this car, but the company’s new breed of cars and popular models including Safari, Aria and others have high resale value. Competition

Tata Motors is currently the fifth largest passenger car manufacturer in the country. The company is facing stiff competition from the likes of Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda Car India and Hyundai. The GenX Nano is not limited to superficial updates only. It gets a new boot lid which makes the rear luggage space easily accessible and importantly, it features an automatic gearbox. This perhaps makes it a strong micro buy on four wheels. True? We reve.
