The country’s largest luxury vehicle maker BMW is likely to see the slowest growth in year 2012 since their debut in the country in year 2007. The company has said in a statement that, the increasing competitive pressures and decreasing demand for luxury cars is likely to result in slowest growth year for the company this year.

The company is facing a tough competition from the rivals like Audi and Mercedes Benz, both which are aiming to snatch the position of top luxury car maker from BMW in the coming years.

Speaking on the matter to TOI, Andreas Schaff, president of BMW India, said, "We do not expect growth to be beyond single digit this year, somewhere in the range of 5 per cent." He added, "If the market is good, the maximum we can grow is 10 per cent. The competition in the market is fierce. Also, people want to experience different products, a fact we do recognize."

Meanwhile, the company is working aggressively to expand their footprints in the Indian auto market. BMW India will set-up new temporary outlets under their 'mobile showroom' concept in the cities like Karnal, Agra, Dehradun, Patna and Bhopal.
