Honda launched its fifth generation all-new CR-V in India at Rs 28.15 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new CR-V is considerably larger than the model it replaces. This not only makes it more spacious, but also gave Honda the room to throw in a pair of seats (diesel model only).
Powering the new 2018 CR-V will be the 154bhp/189Nm 2-litre petrol motor with a CVT gearbox (efficiency of 14.4kmpl), and a diesel 1.6-litre 120bhp/300Nm motor that uses a 9-speed AT gearbox (2WD-19.5kmpl/AWD diesel-18.3kmpl).
To keep things contemporary, Honda has used a number of trims and finishes to make the cabin look and feel plush. And then there’s the long list of features. It gets a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panorama sun-roof and electric parking brake.
It is loaded with an array of safety features which include ABS with EBD and brake assist, motion-adaptive EPS, auto brake hold, vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, side airbags, left blind-spot camera view and driver attention monitor.
Armed with the new CR-V, Honda will try to regain some lost ground against rivals such as Ford’s Endeavour, the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota’s Fortuner.
