Skoda is preparing to showcase its all-new Slavia globally on 18 November 2021. Developed under the ‘India Project 2.0’, this sub-compact sedan is the second vehicle to utilise the MQB A0 IN platform - first introduced with the Kushaq. The Slavia is said to replace the long-running Rapid or could also be placed a segment above the Rapid.
Being a Skoda, the Slavia is likely to feature the signature butterfly grille with numerous vertical slats. Additionally, it is expected to come with LED headlights and rear lights, fog lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels. Dimension-wise, the Slavia will be 4,541mm in length and will have a 2,651mm wheelbase.
On the inside, the sedan is most likely to come with a large infotainment touchscreen display which should be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and support wireless handset connectivity. Other features could include a wireless charging pad, an electric sunroof, multifunctional steering wheel, cruise control, multiple airbags, TPMS, cooled glovebox and suchlike.
This newest product by Skoda will get two engine options. Firstly, a tuned-up 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 114bhp. And, a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged motor that makes 148bhp. Like the Kushaq, it could also get a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission choices. Once launched, the Slavia will take on the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Volkswagen Vento.
