Mahindra Five-door Thar

As per reports, Mahindra officially confirmed the arrival of the new five-door Thar during its presentation for the fourth-quarter results of the financial year 2021. Simultaneously, the automaker also announced that it will be introducing nine all-new offerings between 2023 and 2026. That said, the five-door Thar is expected to make its global debut by the first half of 2023. 

The five-door Thar will be significantly larger in every dimension, especially in length and wheelbase, compared to the on-sale Thar. It might come with two roof options, hard-top and convertible soft-top. Besides this, it could get new features, such as LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, a sturdier off-road-oriented suspension, and so on. It might also get the 4Xplor four-wheel-drive setup with various terrain modes, similar to the new Scorpio-N. 

Regarding safety equipment, the five-door Thar may feature four or six airbags, hill hold and descent control systems, an electronic stability program, ABS, EBD, brake assist, four-wheel disc brakes, TPMS, traction control, seat belt pre-tensioners with load limiters, ISOFIX anchor points, a 360-degree camera setup, and rear parking sensors. 

The new five-door Thar is expected to feature redesigned interior and the AdrenoX infotainment system from the XUV700. In addition, Mahindra is likely to offer it with a sizable digital driver display, a new steering wheel, USB Type-C ports, a wireless charging pad, connected car features, an engine start/stop switch, and an auto-dimming IRVM. 
 

Under the bonnet, the five-door Thar is expected to be powered by petrol and diesel powertrain options, including manual and automatic transmissions. In fact, Mahindra could provide tuned-up versions of mStallion TGDI and mHawk series engines.
