Force Motors, the domestic auto manufacturer, was previously known as Bajaj Tempo. The Indian company is best known for manufacturing multi-utility, three-wheelers, cross country vehicles, light and heavy commercial vehicles, and tractors. The company began developing personal vehicles in year 2011. The company also plans to expand its network and wings in passenger vehicles and introduce several new vehicles in this genre.

The brand was originally founded by N.K. Firodia in year 1958. A few years later, it was partly acquired by Bajaj Auto. Force also went into joint venture with several other brands like MAN, Daimler, ZF, and Bosch. The company has earned its fair share in commercial vehicles. The first car model to be launched by this brand in passenger vehicle segment was Force One and Gurkha. Apart from passenger and commercial vehicles, Force Motors has earned a name for other auto parts that includes bodies, axles, chassis, gear boxes, and engines.

Force Motors Ltd. Holds two manufacturing facilities in India. Trucks from Force Motors are manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh, Indore, Pithampur. It is being run in association with Man Force Trucks Pvt. Ltd. The other one is located in Akurdi, Pune, Maharashtra. There, it manufactures engines, bodies, chassis, bodies, gearboxes, and axles. The home-grown car maker has also invested hefty amount in Research and Development center. It also holds a strong grip in international markets like Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Africa.

Force Motors presently owns a decent dealership network of 20 outlets that cover almost all major cities of India. With an aim to enhance its market share, the company plans to launch new dealerships across the country.

Founder And First Car

The company was originally founded by N.K. Firodia by 1958. Later, Bajaj Auto purchased a large stake in it, and renamed it as Bajaj Tempo. Daimler-Benz controlled 16 per cent stakes of Bajaj Tempo and later sold this stake to Firodia group in year 2005. The domestic automaker began developing the Hanseat3-wheeler in association with Sohn Tempo Werke and German Vidal. The JV has a strong presence in LCV segment with Matador, one of the most widely known light commercial vehicles in India. Bajaj Tempo has been associated with German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz since year1976. In 1982, JV began manufacturing OM6161 oil burner in year 1982.
