Model: Toyota Etios - G SP Booked on : 15 April 2011 Delivery taken on: 14th July 2011 Pros : Power packed engine married to butter smooth gearbox Cons: No rear wipers, No remote with spare key Look and Style: Just average with Toyota Smiling Grille only added attraction Comfort 1)Ample rear leg space even after reclining the front seat fully. 2)595 litres of boot space - Highest in sedan category 3)13 litres cooled glove box 4)170 mm ground clearance. Second highest to Maruthi and Clears all pot holes and we don't feel the pinch inside. Pick up : 1)0 -120 KM/Hr in 12 sec. and fast deceleration too. Hence best car for both city and highway ride without need for much gear shift. Mileage: Lowest Kerb weight of 930 Kg and highest power with 1499 CC engine. Definitely better fuel economy. Getting 12.5 in city ride before first service. Best features: 1)1500 CC power packed engine. No other manufacturer offers so much power at this cost .As the power is so much will the vehicle bear at such low 930 Kg weight? Test drive cleared my doubt. No vibration even at 120 KMPH and you can feel steering steady. 2)Peak torque is 132 NM. Out of this 110 NM(almost 83 %) we get at 2500/ 3000 RPM which will be the normal road speed. So much power for normal driving. 3)Gear shift and throw. Perfect match with the engine and you don't feel the strain 4)Low Kerb weight? - Is safety compromised by reducing sheet metal thickness? No. Toyota has taken care of it by impact absorbing body structure and crash test . 5)4.9m turning radius. Lowest, providing good maneuverability. 6)Good road visibility for safe driving. 7)Above all from G to G -SP,you get ABS with EBD, Airbags and safety belt warning for approximately at an additional cost of Rs.50,000. All other manufacturer's charge Rs.1 lakh more for these add on. Needs to improve: 1)No rear wiper. Finding difficult during driving in rain. Toyota should address this in safety angle. 2)Single front wiper. Adverse comments by everybody. Though it is a drawback I don't find it so bad since it wipes fully and gives the driver full vision. 3)Reverse indicator on right side only. Looks bad. Is it cost cutting? Public feel other side bulb fused. 4)Driver's seat - No height adjustment. 5)ORVM - Manual adjustment - Slightly feeling uncomfortable while adjusting. 6)J variant - No power steering. Hope there won't be any takers these days for manual steering and better stop this model. 7)Rear seat comfort lacking without armrest. 8)Spare key has no remote. Very bad. Overall experience: If you give least priority for aesthetics, moderate priority for comfort, high priority to performance and safety and runs less than 10000KM/year worth going for this. Recommend strongly for family but not for car freaks who changes cars for comfort and fancy. As on date no comparable car with so much of power, fuel efficiency and safety features at this cost. You can buy closing your eyes betting on Toyota's reputation

Etios entry level sedan: Disappointment for owner. Etios is an incomplete vehicle like a baby born prematurely. It is having a moderate engine with decent dynamics but cost cutting in other areas specially related to comfort has resulted in a half cooked product. As for being categorized as an economical product: I feel that as compared to other Toyota it is economical . But compared with its peers it is not a economy product and by no stretch of imagination can be described as value for money product. Once euphoria over Toyota badge goes, then Toyota will have to pull up its socks and improve Etios in many areas. The reduction in the quality of dampers and insulating material has made possible all the oscillations from the engine to get inside the passenger cabin and create nuisance for the driver. Strangely but true Toyota people try to escape the flaws in Etios by merely giving the excuse that it is priced less and that is why the problems are there. This is really insulting for the customer who has spent all his hard earned money for the Toyota brand. Please understand that I have however spent 7.5 Lakh on procuring this vehicle and this is no way lower price that I have paid for buying Etios. If Toyota is facing any quality issues with the Etios they should admit it as they have done it gracefully in other parts of the world. I own Toyota Etios and there is no comfort. I still prefer to drive my 11 years old WagonR. My new Toyota Etios Sedan vibrates as if a tractor engine is fitted inside it. Remember it is a Petrol Engine. The worst part is that Toyota company engineers are not acknowledging the problems which are visible with naked eye to them. Toyota Engineers could not diagnose the problem. Unless the problem in my etios is diagnosed, it can not be rectified. We always prefer petrol over diesel fuel run vehicles because we do not mind spending more money on fuel and we do not like Engine Noise and Vibration. But in Toyota Etios Sedan you pay more for Petrol fuel and face the Engine Noise and Vibrations. The vehicle lacks proper insulation and dampers used in the engine compartment which can reduce the engine noise inside the passenger cabin. The Etios design fails in this field as lot of noise is heard from engine and the tyres and road, inside the passenger cabin which causes irritation. After driving for few kilometers the vibrations get more intense and are felt through steering, dashboard, side arm rest and seats as they vibrate and make the journey tiring and boring for driver and passengers as well. This Vibration effect increase as the AC is switched "OFF". You can live with it in Summers but what will happen in Winters?. The other drawbacks include the absence of Weather gaskets in all the four doors. The absence of the gaskets make it convenient for dust, insects, lizards, cockroaches to get inside the Toyota Etios Sedan. Moreover the inside gaskets stick to the door in a manner that if you open the door after the gap of even 2 days, the door becomes very hard to open as the rubber gasket stick on the open-able door surface.and also the Quality of the paint is very poor, which just gets away as soon as it come in contact with any surface. The average is also close to half as claimed by Toyota. I am surprised that after researching for 5 years in India and designing a vehicle as per the Indian standard conditions the Toyota Etios Sedan fails to impress in terms of the price being paid. I trusted Toyota and booked the vehicle even before physically seeing the vehicle, also finalized the color of the etios without seeing the actual color. This shows the faith that I have in Toyota products, but the irresponsible response of the engineers who inspected my vehicle has made me lose faith in Toyota customer support. Toyota Etios Sedan does not deserve to be even categorised a "SEDAN" as it does not provide basic comfort. It is by the virtue of the design that it is called "SEDAN" Toyota Etios Sedan occupies more space on Road, but not in owner's heart. http://myetios.com/http:/www.myetios.com/etios-entry-level-sedan-disappointment-for-owner.htm Also view the toyota defects album at https://picasaweb.google.com/115740614042209833356/MyEtios?feat=directlink Youtube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/myetios?ob=5#p/a

It looks and feels like modified (or otherwise??) version of Logan. Tacky plastic, badly done iinterior, seats look like i10 seats, dash is like indica vista, outer shape like logan (see the outer door opening latch it is one generation old). This car did not impress me at all. Open the bonnet and engine bay feels the nothing plush about it (my Fiat Petra 1.6 has a mush plush engine and bay). Power is okay not very impressive (not even close to Petra's 100 Bhp). If logan was a failure because of its bad looks, etios is one notch below logan!!

Hi. Smart looks require curves. Curves means more/specialised moulds/dies and adds the cost. Toyota wanted to position Etios competitively.

The Dashboard looks horrible, just like grade-c Chinese toys, the car is not up to the expectations, too much compromised for the price, its better to buy a premium hatchback with that price.

I don't think Etios Sedan can do more in Indian Market. But surely Avanza or Mini Innova can do better for a middle cleass family and attract Indian mind. But in small car segment May be perform better ( Etios hatch back). But diesel/Petrol Mini Innova/Avanza can only do better in Indian mind. Instead Sedan, Toyota should have released a Thailand Avanza in Indian market. Hope Toyota will soon bring a Mini Innove/Avanza.
