Skoda India is introducing its upcoming car model Yeti across India. The model is available at various showrooms across India for five days at all dealerships across the country. Skoda is also doing soft promotion of the model via the internet and introducing the car to bloggers and auto enthusiasts in various cities. The model is expected to be launched by October 2010 in the domestic market.
This is a brief overview of the Skoda Yeti.
Appearance Exterior
Skoda Yeti is the fifth model in its Indian portfolio and Skoda is definitely looking at introducing a strong off-roader in the Indian market with some real tough features. The tall boy stance is pretty evident from the SUV’s first look. The looks claim it to be one of Skoda’s most promising SUV candidates in the Indian market. It is 4.2 meters long and a 5-door hatch model that carries inspirational looks of VW Tiguan and Skoda Roomster.
Appearance Interior
Skoda Yeti has been awarded 5 star rating for safety by Euro NCAP. The model features roomy and spacious interiors of a midsize SUV which is well complemented with features like Electronic Stability Programme, Anti Locking Braking system, Hydraulic Brake assist, Anti-slip regulation and an Electronic Differential Lock.
The model has enough pockets and holders in the front including drink holder in central console, a pen holder and a storage compartment. The rear seats feature foldable trays and enough room at the back for the rear passengers to stretch out the most even in on the longest of journeys. Performance Drive
The model will be available with diesel engines with two options in India. Skoda Yeti in India will feature 2.0L turbo-charged diesel engine with 5-speed manual transmission producing 1.7L displacement delivering power of 110PS @ 4200 rpm and a torque of 250 Nm at 1500- 2500 rpm. The second variant will be mated by 6-speed manual transmission with advanced Haldex clutch.
Skoda has taken care of the Indian driving conditions and the ground clearance of the car speaks of the same. The car has undergone strict homologation to not only suit the Indian driving norms but also to deliver the best driving experience to its Indian customers. The car is extremely robust to handle off-road experiences on rough terrains.
The model is expected to compete with models like Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Indicruz and Maruti Grand Vitara.

Conclusion
