Needless to say that Porsche Cayman is counted amongst the most desirable sports cars. Across the globe, the model series has won many hearts and has received excellent response from the car enthusiasts.To enhance the sales further, the German automaker has introduced a new trim in this series. It is named GTS and is loaded with a 3.4-litre petrol engine offering 15bhp more power and 10Nm extra torque than other trims.


There is no denying that this model series possesses a distinctive andclassy look. The automaker has done a great job by designing this car with sporty cosmetics. Having a look at the front side of this car, an oval shaped clear lens headlight cluster is featured with LED DRLs, turn indicators and halogen projector headlights. The bonnet possesses a smiley shape while the front windscreen has concave structure housing a pair of wipers and washers. Its front bumper gets a sporty look and houses an air intake sections. The rear fender comes with an air inlet which is provided for decent amount of ventilation. Its sleek window lining gets black accents whereas the door handles and ORVM caps are designed in body colour.Like is front profile, the rear end reflects quite a decent work having clear lens taillight cluster, snake-eye shaped, turn indicators and advanced LED brake lights.


The interiors of this vehicle are made using high quality material and leather upholstery. This sports car has classy interior design which is not usual in its segment. It has chrome detailing which looks very lavish with a combination of platinum grey and black colour scheme. The dashboard is designed beautifully with metallic accents. It is featured with a cooled glove box unit, an infotainment system, a proficient analog clock and an air conditioning system. The seats of front cabin have backrest and height adjustment facility. To give away a plush appeal to the cabin, the well-cushioned seats are covered with alcantara leather upholstery. Its 3-spoke steering wheel with smooth-finish leather upholstery covering is main highlight of the cabin. Not to forget, this sports car houses various utility based features like three accessory power sockets, storage compartment, lockable glove compartment, dual sun visors with vanity mirrors and integral seat headrests.

Engine and Transmission

The automaker has launched this model series in two petrol engine options. Its base variant is backed by a 2.7-litre petrol mill that is equipped with a direct fuel injection technology. It has the capacity of offering a maximum power of 275bhp and yielding a torque output of 290Nm. The mid-range variant has 3.5-litre petrol mill which can churn out a peak power of 325bhp and a maximum torque output of 370Nm. This model series is available in a newly launched GTS trim with a higher output of 340bhp and 380Nm of torque. Both the engines are incorporated with an advanced 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. It comes with automatic clutch which enhance the engine efficiency.

Performance and Handling

All the variants of this sports car are fitted with a six-speed manual and a seven speed PDK automatic transmission gearbox option. Its 2.7-litre engine with manual gearbox has the potential to breach the 100 Kmph mark in just about 5.7 seconds. This one can attain a maximum speed in the range of 264 Kmph.On the contrary, the automatic version can do the same within just 4.7 seconds. It has the capacity of pushing the vehicle in the speed range of 266 Kmph respectively.The high end variants offer a top speed of 283 kmph and can break the speed mark of 100 kmph in approx. 5 to 4.7 seconds.The base trim delivers a maximum mileage of 15.87 Kmpl whereas the top end S variant can give away 16.12 Kmpl. An advanced power assisted steering system is integrated in this car, which is very responsive and easy to handle.

Braking System

The luxury sports car is equipped with Porsche ceramic composite brakes along with brake callipers. For enhanced braking mechanism, this vehicle is backed by internal vented disc brakes along with anti-lock braking system. The front and rear axles have lightweight spring-strut type of suspension. Moreover, to minimize the shock effects, this sports car is loaded with anti-roll bars.


The 3436 cc Petrol - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 5 kmpl in city and 6 kmpl on highways.

Safety Features

The Porsche Cayman is introduced in three trims and all of these are paired with similar safety features. These safety features include airbags, three point inertia-reek seat belts, side impact protection, central locking system, engine immobilizer and ISOFIX child seat mountings. Apart from these, the super luxurious trim offers daytime running lights, LED auxiliary light unit, electric parking brake and pad wear sensor on each brake calliper.


For automobile enthusiasts, the Porsche Cayman has done wonders. Its remarkable performance, dashing exteriors, luxurious interiors and advanced safety features make it a worth buy. However, low ground clearance and limited seating can be a huge drawback for its lovers. The automaker can also pay attention towards increasing authorized service stations across the country.


At present, the Porsche Cayman gives a close competition to Audi R8 and Jaguar F-type in the Indian automotive industry.
