      ZF introduces new 9-speed automatic transmission system

      The leading German transmission system manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen, which delivers 6 speed and 8 speed transmissions to a number of leading brands, has introduced a new age 9-speed auto transmission system in Germany. ZF has been manufacturing transmission systems for brands like Hyundai, Mulsanne, and Bentley.

      As per the company, the new transmission not only enhances the fuel economy of the car but also reduces the emission levels considerably. The fuel efficiency of the car will be increased by as much as 16 percent with this new transmission and it is capable of working with Stop-start, hybrid, and all-wheel drive.

      While introducing the new engine unit at its Germany headquarters, Mr. Hans Georg Harter, ZF CEO & President, said, “Already a leader in technically advanced, fuel-saving multi-speed transmissions for rear-drive vehicles, ZF’s new 9-speed enables significant fuel economy improvements and delivers excellent performance characteristics for front-wheel-drive vehicles.”

      The all new 9-speed transmission, which is the first of its kind, has been designed for cars that have transversally mounted engines. The new engine will be produced at the company’s plant in Greenville, South Carolina.
