Jens von Brauck (JvB) has created a one-off Yamaha VMAX ‘Infrared’ custom motorcycle in the memory of the 30th anniversary of the splendid powercruiser. The bike has been painted in the livery of the 1985 GP team of Yamaha. There is a stark influence of the café racer as well as retro bobber specialities. Several handmade pieces as well as bits have been included tank cover as well as the headlight casing. The aluminium subframe of the VMAX Infrared has been delicately designed from parts of the stock machine.

The VMAX Infrared gets redesigned air scoops, which has stark resemblance with the ones in the original 1980 edition. A secondary fuel tank under the seat and a carbon tail section has also been provided on the new model. The model is powered by a liquid-cooled 1697 cc V4 engine, which churns out 197 bhp engine and 168 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Shun Miyazawa, the product manager of Yamaha Motor Europe, said, “To respect the culture that has grown around this icon we’ve chosen to celebrate 30 years of the VMAX by working with three highly respected custom builders to create three VMAX specials that will inspire not just Yamaha, but also owners of the VMAX and those who maybe want to own one.”

The other two special edition VMAX motorcycles, which Yamaha had unveiled in the previous week, is not part of the VMAX Infrared display project. Yamaha has said that this motorcycle was a part of the 30th anniversary edition and a tribute to Kenji Ekuan, who was the creator of 1985 VMAX, who recently passed away.
