Japanese bike maker Yamaha has been doing well in the Indian market in recent times, expanding its operations as each year progresses. Since the bike and scooter market has been expanding continuously in India, the Japanese firm has decided to do a little restructuring of its business formation. Yamaha Motor India Private Limited is going to be restarted and is going to function as the regional headquarters along with corporate control body in the sub continent.

The restructuring of Yamaha took place a few weeks back and from 15th August and Hiroyuki Suzuki, who was Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of India Yamaha Motor, has been given the post of Managing Director of Yamaha Motor India. Suzuki, in addition, is also the chairman of other group firms in the country. Yamaha, from what it seems, is planning on being really aggressive towards the Indian market and launching new models, devising new strategies and making things simplified are some of the targets of the Japanese firm. Reports suggest that India Yamaha Motor is going to be responsible for strategising, planning and decision making for the corporate, thereby regulating the firm’s business operations in India. This unit will also ensure the quality control, regional control and expansion of Yamaha in India. Manufacturing is going to come under IYM as per the new hierarchy while YMIS and YMRI are going to be support companies for sales, development of products and marketing.

The Yamaha Motor Corporation has been elected as the head company while Yamaha Motor India, Yamaha Motor India Sales and Yamaha Motor Research & Development India will be working under it. On the other hand, India Yamaha Motor is expected to receive more support than YMC and Mitsui & Co combined. The market for two wheelers is expanding rapidly in India and in the past few years, scooters have come back in vogue, making things easy for foreign companies. Sometime back, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp were the undisputed kings of the Indian market but Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India along with TVS Motor Company have been rising fast, challenging their dominance. In fact, according to recent figures, Hero Splendor was overtaken by Honda Activa as the most selling two-wheeler of the Indian market.
