Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd., according to sources, is hoping to achieve a growth of around 35 per cent in 2014 by selling 6.2 lakh units in the Indian market. As per a report in Economic Times, high growth is being anticipated by the two-wheeler company, keeping in mind its market expansion in smaller cities. The set target seems quite logical as the bike maker managed to sell 4.6 lakh units in 2013, which is quite impressive. Vice-President for Sales and Marketing at Yamaha Motor India Sales (YMIS), Roy Kurian, reportedly said, “This year we are targeting to sell 6.2 lakh units in the country. We are planning to consolidate our presence in tier II cities and also focus to enter tier III cities.”

At present, the bike company sells products in both, motorcycle and scooter segments. This year, it is expecting to record high sales in the scooter segment as compared to the previous year. Kurian said, “Last year, out of the total sales of 4.6 lakh units, we sold 1.5 lakh units of scooters. This year we are looking to sell around 2.8 lakh scooter units.”
