      Yamaha may usher in fuel efficient technology for bikes in India

      The brand Yamaha has been a renowned brand for performance bikes across global racetracks. The Japanese bike-maker also caters to to the regular commuter bike segment in the country. To further gain a strong footing in this segment Yamaha has turned to fuel efficient technologies for its production line in India. The company has been keen on changing its strategy from being a 'Performance' brand to being known for 'Performance with mileage'.

      The move is expected to bring in better sales numbers for its popular bikes like FZ, YZF R15, Fazer, and scooters like Ray, Ray Z and Alpha. A majority of the sales numbers for Yamaha in India is owed to its popular 150cc bike segment. With the introduction of new technology, the sales numbers are bound to take a steep positive rise.

      Toshikazu Kobayashi, Yamaha Motor Research and Development India Managing Director said, “Fuel economy of course is a key factor that influences the buying behavior of the Indian customer across segments. Hence, we are investing our resources in fuel economy technologies across segments. Going forward, you may expect us to launch new models of two-wheelers with more fuel efficient technology in Indian market which provide best in class mileage as well as cleaner air to our customers.”

      Yamaha has reportedly been working on developing an innovative closed loop fuel injection technology that delivers better fuel efficiency figures. Reportedly, the company has been working on cost effective mechanism that keeps the cost low for price sensitive Indian market while simultaneously delivering cleaner air in the process.
