Yamaha is gearing up to take the competition in the world of two-wheelers to the next level. The brand is reportedly working hard on the street fighter version of the much-anticipated R25, which will be inspired from the bigger MT01. The product, once ready will be as MT25. The quarter-litre presentation from Yamaha was undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated events to happen this year. Even though, Yamaha had released the specifications of the bike quite some time back, it was smart enough to hold back some vital information about the bike till now. The renowned manufacturer has now spiced up the entire affair by adding a sibling to R25. The work on the naked version of this 250 cc bike has already started and there is a speculation that this model is inspired from the MT01.

The R25 uses a clip-on handle bar; however, the naked version will not be using it. Instead, the bike will be featuring a single wide handlebar along with the signature headlight unit on the front of the MT01. Thus, the riding position will be given a much upright posture as compared to a general sporty bike. The new bike will make a debut in the international market later this year and sales will begin in 2015. The bike comes with the same 249 cc engine, which is capable of churning out 36 PS of power and 22.6 Nm of torque. The bike has been provided with a six-speed transmission through which, power is transferred to the wheels.

Incidentally, Yamaha launched the MT125 earlier this year, which was the naked version of R125. The naked MT25 will be a perfect addition to the family of Yamaha’s bold looking naked motorcycles. The launch of a naked version will definitely, give Yamaha a wider appeal because of the much increased practicality of these bikes. The bike will face stiff competition from KTM RC 390, Honda CB300F and CBR300R. The pricing will surely be a competitive one and slightly lower than the fully-faired version. Yamaha is set to release the new bike globally in 2015.
