India Yamaha Motor has recorded a healthy 15.6 per cent rise in domestic sales in March 2012 on Year over Year (YoY) basis. This hike in sales was primarily due to the resounding success of its portfolio in the market as well as growing consumer demand. The domestic arm of the Japanese manufacturer sold 29,819 vehicles in the month, compared to the 25,786 units it had rolled out during the same time in 2011. On the other hand, its export volumes in the third month of this year stood at 12,067 units, against the 10,982 vehicles it sent to foreign markets during the corresponding period in the previous year. The total sales of the bike maker stood at 41,886 units in March 2012, a rise of 13.9 per cent over the 36,768 Yamaha vehicles that hit the roads in the same month last year.

Talking about the sales figures, Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & Managing Director, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. commented, “We are pleased with the encouraging response we have been receiving for our deluxe and premium segment bikes such as the YZF-R15 Version 2.0, FZ series & SZ series. We are planning to strengthen our Best 3S (Sales, Service & Spares) set up in tier-2 & tier-3 cities and increase sub-dealers in the rural areas to further boost our sales in the coming months.”

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has steadily strengthened its relationship with Indian buyers. It has commenced the YES!YAMAHA initiative, which strives to deliver an incomparable 3S Experience to the consumers in an effort to ensure that they take up the company's product with a resound 'YES'. Yamaha is also continually working towards carrying out customer-specific marketing campaigns, such as Yamaha R15 One Make Race, Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) aimed at college students and children and Yamaha Service Camps, among others.

Yamaha ventured onto Indian soil in the year 1985; the company Yamaha India became a wholly owner subsidiary of Japanese two wheeler manufacturing giant Yamaha Motor Co. (YMC) in August 2001. India Yamaha Motor Private Limited (IYM) was born out of a joint venture between YMC and Mitsui & Co. in 2008 in order to develop bikes.

IYM has two world class production plants, located at Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh and Faridabad, Haryana, where it manufactures motorcycles for local and foreign markets. With bench strength of 2,000 personnel, the company is consumer-oriented and leverages its countrywide network of 400 dealerships to provide efficient mobility solutions in India.
