      Yamaha Alpha sales reach 14000 sales mark in 60 days

      Alpha, the 113cc automatic scooter from Japanese bike-maker Yamaha was unveiled at the last month held 2014 Auto Expo event in Delhi. Roy Kurian, Yamaha Motor India’s VP – Sales and Marketing, said, “You can expect our growth and our focus more in scooters because it is going to drive volumes.” As per sources, the Yamaha Alpha is likely to attain the 14000 sales mark in just about two months since its launch. Roy Kurian, said,”We are hopeful of recording 14,000 units of Alpha sales by this month (March) across the country. Bangalore, which is among the biggest two-wheeler markets in India, holds a pre-eminent position for us.”

      The Yamaha Alpha is said to be based on the Ray platform. The scooter is powered by 113cc air-cooled 4-stroke two-valve single cylinder engine that generates about 7.1 Ps of power with 8.1 Nm of torque. As per sources, the scooter delivers an impressive mileage of 62 kmpl. The front wheel is blessed with a telescopic suspension, whereas the rear gets an upright unit swing type suspension. The scooter weights a mere 104 kg making it ideal for both sexes. As per company officials, the brand aims at selling close to 2,00,000 units within the first year of its inception.

      The Alpha scooter from Yamaha has been a hit in the southern part of India. Till date, Yamaha has received about 3,500 bookings for the scooter from Bangalore. Accumulated sales for bikes and scooter under Japanese two wheeler brand name accounts for about 34,000 units every month. Yamaha has about 120 dealership within the country of which 25 dealership are based in Karnataka itself. Kurian stated that company hopes to sell about 20,000 Alpha's in the country, of which 50% sales are expected to come from South India.

      On the exterior, the Alpha scooter from Yamaha gets a wider and better positioned seat, that delivers maximum comfort on long trips. The scooter's dynamics read as 1,795mm in length, 675mm in width and 1124mm in height. The wheelbase of 1270mm is ideal for Indian road conditions. Overall, the design looks smoother and street smart. The Yamaha Alpha is launched with an attractive price tag of Rs. 49,518 and is available in interesting shades of Black, White, Grey, Red and Magenta. Moreover, the scooter is ideal for all group and gender.
