On Monday at the Hero MotoCorp facility in Haryana, 400 workers went for eight hours strike. Due to delay on the part of the company to provide solution regarding the payment of Provident Fund, employees of the Spare Part Division went for strike.

However, the workers called off the strike after receiving a written assurance from the management. The company has expelled a contractor who failed to deposit Rs. 10000 as Provident Fund amount into the bank accounts of each worker. An inquiry has now been initiated by the workers into these discrepancies. They have also asked the management to provide clarification.

It is not the first instance this year that there is a dispute between the workers and management at the Hero MotoCorp Limited, Haryana. Permanent workers of component makers, earlier in the month of April went for strike for more than two weeks. Higher wages have been demanded by 1,200 workers of Satyam Auto, which manufactures two wheeler chassis and plastic parts.

Owned by close relatives of Hero MotoCorp's promoter, the component makers are part of a group of 100 such ancillaries, which produces spare parts for the Haridwar plant of the company. However, the company informed that its production remained unaffected despite these issues with labour.

A spokesperson from Hero MotoCorp later stated, "About four-five workers from our Spare Parts Division (SPD) had approached us seeking certain clarification on an issue pertaining to their provident fund (PF) with their previous contractor. Despite the matter not coming directly under our purview, we decided to intervene keeping in mind the overall welfare of our workers."
