      'Women Safety Rally' organized by Honda and Delhi Traffic Police to celebrate International Women's Day

      Encouraging road safety measures in India has been a priority for Japanese bikemaker Honda. This weekend as the world celebrated International Women's day, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) and Delhi Traffic Police had organized the ‘Women Safety Rally’ in the capital to celebrate the spirit of womanhood and encourage road safety with the use of helmets while riding a two-wheeler. The event was flagged off in the presence of in the presence of Mr. B. S. Bassi, Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Mr. Y. S. Guleria, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd, from Traffic Training Park at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.

      Speaking more on the occasion, Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President-Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “It is our strong belief that strong and empowered women are the backbone of flourishing societies. At Honda we are committed towards providing physical, personal and social movement to the people and through the ‘Women Safety Rally’, we want to permeate the message of road safety among women riders by encouraging the use of helmet while riding two-wheelers.” Mr. Guleria further added, “The alarming trend of lower adoption of helmets among women riders is on the rise. We are hopeful such initiatives will help in creating awareness and sensitizing the society towards the use of helmets. We are thankful to the Delhi traffic police for their continued support in our joint efforts for making Delhi roads safe for all.”

      More than 300 women, including members from the Delhi traffic Police and women riders who had learnt riding at Traffic Training Parks in Delhi, had participated in this safety-rally. The riders participating in the rally were required to do a round-robin route that commenced and culminated at the Traffic Training Park at Baba Kharak Singh Marg with detours through Gol Daak Khana, Ashok Road - Janpath Road- Regal Cinema, before culminating at Traffic Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg. The stylish, comfortable and safety oriented helmets distributed by Honda has been designed specifically for women participants and were based on ISI prescribed standards.
