General Motors India Private Limited (GMIPL), the country's fifth largest passenger car maker, has significantly upped the ante against top industry leaders when it introduced a new premium hatchback Chevrolet Sail U-VA in domestic market on November 2, 2012. The American auto maker has capped the new Chevy hatch within a price bracket starting from Rs. 4.44 lacs and goes on till Rs. 6.62 lacs, which could come handy in confronting the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift head on.

The overtly aggressive pricing of freshly launched Sail U-VA, is liable to make the Indian car enthusiasts towards sitting back and re-evaluate their buying strategy regarding whether to go for Swift or opt for Sail U-VA, instead. Evidently, Maruti Suzuki Swift has been ruling the Indian roads for quite some now and is much more expensive than Chevy Sail U-VA by Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000.

The brand new 2012 Chevrolet Sail U-VA has been a brainchild of General Motors' Chinese Joint Venture (JV) partner SAIC Motor Corporation and has been especially tweaked for Indian market at the company's Bangalore based Technical Centre. The latest offering from stables of General Motors has severely intensified market competition and has been dubbed by top industry boffins towards becoming next volume puller for the company in Indian market.

General Motors have pitched the fresh Chevy Sail U-VA hatch in a direct face-off against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Etios Liva and Honda Brio. The company has pegged great hopes with the ongoing Diwali festivities, as it looks toward ending the year on a successful note.
