"We will launch the Beetle by the end of October. We have no plans to alter our decision to invest Rs36bn in India,” Volkswagen India Project Head, Ludwig Geerken was quoted as saying. “It will be competitively priced with other cars in that category,” he added.
Volkswagen reportedly plans to launch the original ‘people's car' Beetle in India by October. It intends to import the car as ‘completely built unit’ inspite of the heavy import duty. The German car major has also reaffirmed its commitment to invest Rs36bn in its Pune plant.
Not only this, the company would roll out its car “Polo” soon. The car would be manufactured in the Pune plant with an investment of Rs 3,600 crore. The production of the car is slated from January next year and a launching in March in the same year. The company has not stated anything about the price indication of both the models. It shall be revealed upon the launch of respective models.
