Volkswagen India has proclaimed that performance oriented GT variants of Polo, GT TDI and GT TSI will be made available for sale in domestic market in new avatar around festive season. The company also hinted at the launch of Volkswagen Polo Cross facelift which is also expected to spin off around the same time. In terms of design and styling TSI and TDI trims of Polo GT will be similar to that of the regular variant of Polo. Other than the new additions offered on regular Polo, both the trims will come equipped with new lights, wheels, bumpers and grille. Inside the cabin, new upholstery and fabrics will be offered and centre console will get silver finishing. As for Cross Polo facelift, it will be bestowed with additional tweaks like side body mouldings, Cross Polo badge and pronounced bumpers.Volkswagen Polo upgraded version launched in India at Rs 4.99 lakh
Under the hood, GT TSI will get a 1.2 litre, four cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of developing a top power output of 105 PS at 5000 RPM along with a peak torque of 175 Nm between 1500 to 4100 RPM. The engine will be coupled to a seven-speed dual cutch gearbox. An ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.21 kmpl is claimed to be delivered by the new Polo GT TSI.
On the other hand GT TDI trim is armed with the same 1.5 litre diesel powertrain that has been inducted in standard diesel version of Polo model. The new engine offers power in two states of tune. The GT TDI variant however, will be housed with the 105 PS variant of 1.5 litre diesel engine. Courtesy new diesel motor, the TDI version is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 19.91 kmpl. A five-speed manual gearbox will be mated to the new diesel motor.
VW Cross Polo facelift will be packed with the 1.5 litre diesel motor outputting 90 PS of pinnacle power at 4200 RPM along with top torque of 230 Nm between 1500-2500 RPM. The engine will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Polo Cross will only be offered in diesel variants and will offer an ARAI certified mileage of 20.14 kmpl.
