Volkswagen Polo, a premium hatchback offered by the German car maker in India, has been recognised as the Best Premium Compact Car in its segment by J.D. Power Asia Pacific. This award was conferred on Polo based on the Initial Quality Study that J.D. Power had conducted. The reviews of 8000 people who bought the Polo between November 2010 and July 2011 were also taken into account. Factors that assisted the model in achieving this distinction include its excellent ride quality, handling, safety, stability and, most importantly, fuel efficiency.
The multiple award-winning Polo has been a success for the car maker in India as well as Europe. Volkswagen had been successful in selling a total of 65,127 units of the model between March 2010 and February 2012. It had also been awarded the prestigious European Car of the Year award in 2009, the year it was launched.
Highlighting features of Polo include the 1.6 L 4 cylinder engine and the unique remote control operated windows and doors. The petrol and diesel variants of the model deliver mileage of 17.2 kmpl and 22.07 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel efficient premium hatchbacks on Indian roads.
