The auto makers in the country took festive season this year as an opportunity to maximise their sales, which until October had remained sluggish, owing to soaring fuel prices and high interest rates. While many companies launched their long awaited vehicles this festive season, others came up with attractive offers and freebies in order to lure buyers. The car makers came up with offers for a longer period in order to clear the inventories by the end of this year.

Earlier this month Volkswagen came up with a unique strategy called as 'Post it,' which allows customers booking Polo and Vento during November 2012 to win a free Polo or Vento. All they are to do is answer three questions at the time of booking and those who would answer them correctly will be processed for a lucky draw. This offer is valid only till the end of November 2012 and the results of the draw would be announced in December. The winners of the contest will drive away in a Polo or Vento for free.

Head of marketing and PR, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, earlier this month said, “This campaign is slightly different from our previous ones. It follows the same DNA of the brand that Volkswagen is an innovative brand with innovative cars. This follows the same direction but is closer to the customers and dealers. It's a guerrilla campaign based on data. It began when I was having my morning jog in Mumbai from Bandra to Khar and realised there are lots of Volkswagen cars in this area. I grabbed my team and asked them is there a possibility to map and cluster areas where we have the highest concentration of customers. We found out, and gave the details to the dealers, who themselves are having their own guerrilla activities.”
