While VW 2.0-litre engine users are going to have their cars bought back by VW, owners of affected 3.0-litre diesel were left in the dark till now. But that’s about to change. With close to 85,000 owners of Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen 3.0-litre diesel engines, reports now confirm a fix for the ongoing emission scam in the United States.

Sources have added that VW could resolve the concern with the emission of the 3.0-litre engines by installing a new software, and also fitting a new catalytic convertor. An Audi spokesperson Mark Clothier, said “We are cooperating with the regulatory agencies and working with them on an approved solution. Beyond that, we cannot comment on the ongoing investigations."

The 3.0-litre cars that are affected comprise of the 2016 Audi A6, A7, A8, A8L and Q5. Also on the list are the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg and the 2015 Porsche Cayenne. Next month Volkswagen may probably make a formal announcement about their buyback plans for the affected 2.0-litre cars, and in the process, may also divulge information about the fix for the 3.0-litre engines.
