Volkswagen India is planning to introduce a special edition of the Beetle soon. This new version will get some cosmetic enhancements to add some appeal to the car.

The special edition will sport racing stripes on the bonnet, roof and even the sides. Volkswagen will also equip this variant with a different pattern of the alloy wheels with gun-metal finish, which might be upsized to 17-inch instead of the 16-inch ones. We don't think there will be any other changes apart from the ones seen in the image of the car that was secretly previewed to some dealers.

Known as the 'bug car' globally, the Beetle will continue to get bi-xenon headlamps, front fog lamps, electrically foldable ORVMs, dual exhaust and a rear spoiler. The cabin boasts of a dual-zone air-conditioning system, multi-function display, an infotainment system with eight speakers, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rear view mirror and cruise control. It also gets leather upholstery and heated front seats.

The Beetle will continue to be powered by an in-line four-cylinder 1,395cc TSI petrol engine producing 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to seven-speed DSG transmission.

The VW Beetle is currently sold in just a single variant in four colours namely habanero orange, oryx white, Tornado Red and Blue Silk. The upcoming special edition is due to go on sale this month or early next year. Since these are just cosmetic tweaks, there might be a possibility that these additions could be sold through dealers as a separate package. This add-on pack might spark new interest in prospective buyers and even existing customers of the Beetle launched in India last year.
