Volvo cars have been in the limelight for quite some time now and seem to be taking all the right steps. The new Volvo XC90 has already become a strong contender in the market even before its launch. The Volvo Xc60 had become the best-selling premium mid-size SUV in 2014 in Europe. Interestingly, the new XC90 has received around 16000 orders already. Owing to this, the production of the car has already begun in Torslanda plant in Sweden during the last month of January. It is expected that the delivery of these models will take place from the spring season. The XC90 has been provided with a host of new technologies including the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and powered by Drive-E powertrain family.

Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, said, “These strong order numbers are very encouraging and it shows that customers obviously like what they see in the new XC90. The new XC90 represents the new Volvo Cars and it is the first in a series of new cars to come, as we renew our entire product portfolio in the coming years.”

Volvo XC60, the best-selling model since 2009, came out to become the top mid-size premium SUV. A total of 70257 units of XC60 were registered in Europe by 2014 according to the reports. It was launched in 2008 and had passed 500000 sales by April 2014. Let us see, whether the new XC90 reaches up to the targets set by its predecessor or not.
