Ever imagined about automatically having your car's fuel tank being refueled when you leave from work. This fantasy can indeed be true as international carmaker Volvo has been working on developing a range of ‘self-filling’ cars that would ensure that you would not need a stop at the nearby petrol station. As soon as tank comes close to being empty, it would automatically send a message via smartphone to a mobile fuel supplier who can arrive and refuel the vehicle. The supplier would receive a secure one-off code that would be needed to open the fuel cap, while the owner may be away doing his regular chores at work or a mall.

Speaking more on the occasion, Klas Bendrik, Volvo’s head of technology said: “The widespread use of smartphones is unlocking new potential in what you can do connecting a car with a customer. The Internet of things has hit the automotive industry and the widespread use of smartphones is unlocking new potential in what you can do connecting a car with a customer.”

Some of the existing Volvo cars already allow the drivers to activate de-icers while being comfortably seated within their home. The same vehicle also sound hooters and flash their lights that help the owners locate the vehicle from car parks. Speaking more on it Håkan Samuelsson, Volvo chief executive , said, “It would be a bit like an aircraft. For complicated maneuvers such as take-off and landing the driver would be in control. But for long boring passages you could have automation and sit back, relax, read emails, and regain 30 minutes of your life you could use to spend with your family.”
