The Volvo V90 Cross Country has been revealed at a function in Sweden. Based on the V90 estate car, it is the latest addition to Volvo’s 90 badged range of vehicles and will take on the likes of the Audi All Road as well as Mercedes-Benz’s All Terrain range.

This India-bound car retains the same dimensions of the standard car but gets plastic cladding and all-wheel drive. Noticeable elements include the ‘Thor hammer’ headlamps, wedge shaped tail lamps and strong shoulder line. It has now got a ground clearance of 210mm an increase of 65mm over the standard car. Adding to the off road credibility of this car are approach, break over and departure angle of 18.9, 17.7 and 20.7 degrees respectively. Included in the off-road package are driving modes, hill descent control and the optional air suspension.

It is being offered with a petrol and diesel engine in two states of tune. The petrols are the T5 and T6 states of tune while the diesels are the D4 and D5 states of tune. All four setups can be had with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed AT. It gets a cabin similar to that of the XC90/S90 which means the minimalistic layout dominated by the massive touchscreen infotainment system that controls most of the functions of the car.

Now for the crucial bit- This car has been confirmed for India sometime in mid-2017. We believe that it will be offered here in one top-of-the-line petrol and diesel variant and only with the eight-speed automatic gearbox. It will slot in alongside the S90 sedan in a similar price bracket for the Indian market.
